Author's Inspiration:  I have thought about the issues raised in this book for a lifetime. I wrote the first draft twenty-some years ago and put it away because I wasn't sure that I had any answers to the troubling questions the book raises. In 2008, the questions were raised again for me when my friend's son was killed in Iraq. I wrestled for four years and finally came to some conclusions that enabled me to write the ending to my book.
