Editor’s Note: Live And Let Lie is a humorous mystery short story.
Book Description: It’s the prequel to the Cat Sinclair mystery novels and stars Cat, a wannabe actress with too much attitude and not enough butt-kissing skills to get the good roles. While serving drinks at a party for a big-time Hollywood producer, she finds herself surrounded by scandal and accomplished liars. With nobody to trust, it’s up to Cat to untangle the lies from the truth without sinking her career.
Author’s Inspiration: The Cat Sinclair mystery series is my signature series and feature Cat, ex-actress and wannabe P.I. The character of Cat came to me at a low point in my life. I hated my job. I was so bored. I used to write stories when the boss wasn’t looking even though I was supposed to be working. Cat is the same. She usually falls asleep or surfs the net to escape the mind-numbing boredom of her office job. I like to think the Cat Sinclair series is for everyone who has ever felt stuck in a rut and dreamed of a more interesting career.

My name is Carolyn Scott. I live in Australia, down in the south eastern part. Like all Aussies, I love the beach, barbies (not the skinny doll kind, the ones that cook food), and other summer activities. I’ve worked in libraries (unfortunately they were legal libraries and incredibly boring), as well as in IT support and as a technical writer. I’ve written 3 mystery novels and 2 novellas (short novels) under this name, but I’ve also written more than a dozen stories under my historical pen-name, C.J. Archer.

“Sophie Davis” is a pseudonym for two best friends, roommates, and now writing/business partners. The pair met at Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law in 2005, and have been making mischief, mayhem and stories together ever since. After they graduated, when one longed for the ability to read minds so she wouldn’t have to study for the bar exam, a Saga was born. Both halves of Sophie Davis currently live in Washington, D.C. They practice law by day, and stay up into the wee hours of the night crafting new story ideas and perfecting existing ones. Both are compulsive list-makers, self-proclaimed horror movie aficionados, and birthday cake lovers.

Editor’s Note: What would it be like to be a high-class call girl?
Book Description: Lucy, an aspiring journalist, is beautiful, successful and happily employed by a top NYC magazine. But not all is as it seems as she struggles with issues from her past. When she finds herself suddenly undercover as a high-class call girl in a prestigious men’s club, memories from her past come flooding back. Can she suppress the trauma from her past long enough to get the scoop? Or will she discover that she finds enjoyment in the familiarity?
Author’s Inspiration: This book is based on one of my own personal fantasies. Partially because of my upbringing and the life I have led, I have often fantasized about being a prostitute. I know it is not something that is often addressed in conversation and I wanted to write a story that pursues this fantasy as a way of getting a better understanding of it.

I write stories about my own fantasies. They’re not to everyone’s taste but I’m a real person, a nice girl, and I’m honest about my sexual inclinations. I’m thirty-two years old and live in a small town in beautiful Ontario with my two dogs. I was born and raised here. I took creative writing classes in school but it wasn’t till I got back to my hometown and was working as a waitress that I really started writing. I like to write about strong, adventurous women. They are the kinds of women I like to imagine I am, or at least would be if I had the courage.
Editor’s Note: TIES THAT BIND is a murder mystery that the whole family will love!
Book Description: Detective Madison Knight and her partner must pull together to stop a potential serial killer. But when the Sergeant starts pressuring her to just put someone behind bars and close the case and her partner starts worrying more about saving his marriage than catching the killer, Madison is left to her own devices to catch the culprit.
Author’s Inspiration: I love the crime genre so it seemed like a natural fit. I wanted a strong female lead instead of the woman being led about by her male partner. Readers have described Madison Knight as “a sharp, insightful protagonist.” Of course, she can’t be all tough. She has an aversion to blood and she does have a chocolate addiction.
Carolyn Arnold published her first book, TIES THAT BIND, the first in her Madison Knight Series, in 2011 and it became a Kindle Best Seller, reaching the top 100 in Police Procedurals in the US and in the UK. Her writing has been compared to New York Times Bestsellers such as JD Robb, Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton, Michael Connelly, Tess Gerritsen, and more. Carolyn was born in 1976 in a rural town of Ontario, Canada. She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada and lives with her husband, and two beagles in a city near Toronto.
Editor’s Note: WHAT IS LOVE is a heartwarming tale of revenge and the meaning of love.
Book Description: A wealthy society woman discovers her husband of forty years plans to leave her for his young mistress. Determined to keep both her husband and their wealthy status among New York society, she’s willing to try anything to stop the little gold-digger. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned and her final crazy attempt causes such a disaster that she and the young women become more than just enemies. Unable to undo the damage, both women must decide what is most important and ultimately–What is Love?
Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to explore whether we love the person before us or the person beneath the beautiful face or rugged good looks. Is love unconditional or based on hidden expectations? How do we know if this person is truly the one? Why does money influence so many love stories and does it make us love more? This story draws from many women who lost love and in their search for answers found unexpected happiness and understanding.

I am a storyteller at heart and love the mystery of love. After years in the crazy industry of fashion design and merchandising, I found the courage to walk away in pursuit of my true passion of writing. I have many more stories to explore and share, and look forward to feedback from fellow passionate romantic souls who will read my work. I am also an artist and addicted to anything vintage. Anyone who knows me isn’t surprised by my antique hats and handbags and shoes and crinolines and corsets. Yes, I do see historical bodice rippers in my future, but for now I have too many contemporary stories to tell!
Editor’s Note: In FIND HER, KEEP HER, fate leads a heartbroken travel writer into the arms of her soul mate.

With her life falling apart, she takes off to Martha’s Vineyard on a work assignment where she unexpectedly meets a rich and sexy man. But, as their romance starts to pick up steam, will it be dashed by hidden secrets?
Born and raised in Southern California, I consider myself a sensual and emotional writer. Essentially, I write to make you feel whatever’s on the page. That’s my brand. Whether contemporary romance, paranormal romance or sci-fi fantasy, the reader can look forward to be taken on a highly charged emotional and sensual journey. I have a BA in Broadcast Journalism and an MA in Communications Studies from California State University, Los Angeles. I’ve read scripts, providing coverage for production companies and screenwriting contests. I have been writing fiction steadily and honing my craft for a very, very long time.
Editor’s Note: LIFE BLOOD puts a unique twist on the vampire romance genre.
Book Description: A dying girl makes a deal with a devil to try to save her life. Only this “devil” is a vampire.
Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to put some real darkness back into vampires, making them both compelling and frightening while allowing some of them to be heroic. I also wanted to build a full world around the existence of various non-human races and to have the consequences of that world cascade into the lives of “normal” humans.

W.J. May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy. The youngest of six — four older brothers, and a sister — taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life and she lead a very successful athlcis career for many years. Her husband is a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU and they have three children. Their house is full of imagination and stories.
After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she’d loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.
Editor’s Note: Angeline’s destiny rests at a crossroads of lies and blood in HEIRESS OF LIES.
Book Description:On her journey home to be reunited with her sick father, a young princess, Angeline Robart, is kidnapped and becomes a pawn in a game of power that has been going for centuries. A handsome rogue becomes her unlikely ally as ancient foes emerge. With the fate of her people in her hands, she will stop at nothing to escape and restore order in her land.
Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to write a unique spin on vampire mythology, and I wanted a strong female lead and I didn’t want it to be just another vampire book. Angeline’s character stalked me for years until I finally wrote her story down.

I started writing when I was twelve. I was an avid reader though long before I was a writer, and grew up on Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Clive Barker. Paranormal stories with things that go bump in the night is in my blood. That’s why stories about ghosts, demons, vampires, witches, werewolves, zombies and all other monsters will always be “in” with me. What I’ve done in each of my series (I have 3 completed and am embarking on a 4th) is try to take one of those paranormal creatures and turn the mythology on its head. I didn’t want to write the same old thing, but I also wasn’t looking to stray to far from what readers know and expect from their monsters.
