I’ve trekked across the Sahara on a camel, ridden an elephant through a tiger preserve in Southeast Asia, eaten fried guinea pig, and been licked on the head by a skunk. In a previous stage of life I programmed nuclear war simulations, smuggled refugees out of a war zone, and milked cobras for their venom. I speak Spanish and French and grew up in a religious community in the desert.
Editor’s Note: FIRE & ICE is a post-apocalyptic epic steampunk, perfect for lovers of the darker side of fantasy.
Book Description: In a post-apocalyptic world, knights riding on the back of giant eagles strike fear in the hearts of the people. The sorcerer Tandor wants to bring the knights down, but his aims and methods reek of the evil magic that the knights defeated years ago. The conflict spills over into a neighbouring steam-age country, pitting magic against technology, son against father and lover against lover.
Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to write a big fantasy with no-holds-barred magic. I wanted to write a big, epic story that takes a group of characters, each with their own motives and backstory, and weave them into a large plot.

Editor’s Note: THE MADNESS OF HALLEN is an epic story about the quest to find the mind of Husam al-Din.
Easily the best Fantasy book I have read this year.
Book Description: The Madness of Hallen begins a quest for control over the desert armies of Husam al-Din. Na’ilah, blood heir to al-Din’s mind, is the last of a long line of descendants searching to unite al-Din’s armies, but preventing that cause is a timeless connection al-Din’s priests have forged to two brothers in the distant mountains of Hejveld. In a last desperate attempt, Na’ilah must manipulate the brothers to claim her prize, and take command over the deserts of the east.
Author’s Inspiration: A series of events that connected occurrences in the Middle East, North Africa, Central America and the UK in the late 1990’s became the foundation for “The Khalada Stone” series. A romance born within the mountains of New Zealand, only to be broken and torn beneath deserts and jungles, before a new awakening was found. ‘The Khalada Stone’ celebrates that story, retold in fantasy form that rekindles the intrepid adventures of the author.

Editor’s Note: EDGEWOOD is a fantastic paranormal fantasy following four teenagers who discover they have superpowers.
Edgewood more than pulls you in and leaves you wanting more
Book Description: Edgewood is the story of four teenagers who witness a strange astronomical event and then discover they have superpowers. When trusted members of their community try to recruit them for their secret organization, the four don’t know what to think. And when knowing who to trust becomes a problem, they have to rely on their new talents and each other. Edgewood is the first book in the three book series, but each book can be read as a standalone.
Author’s Inspiration: Some time ago, a story idea came to me in the middle of the night during a bout of insomnia. I saw it clearly in my mind. There was a guy, a teenager, who couldn’t sleep, so he began to go out walking after his parents had turned in for the night. I knew he would witness something amazing during one of his nighttime walks, and he did, but even I was surprised at how the plot unfolded.

I grew up reading my dad’s collection of science fiction novels and as an adult learned to love young adult fiction. As a writer, I’ve written women’s fiction, as well as books for kids, but writing the Edgewood series has been the most fun I’ve ever had as a novelist. They’re also the books that have gotten the most reader response. I’ve heard from all ages, from teenagers to senior citizens, all telling me how much they enjoyed the books and hoping I’ll write more.
