Editor’s Note: If you are looking for an exciting thriller with dashes of mystery and romance then HIDDEN is just for you!
This one drew me in from almost the first page and the plot kept me guess right to the end!
Book Description: Hidden is a thriller and concerns a female pyschologist called Kate Bennett and the young woman she is called in to help treat. There is a mystery behind the young woman (who was institutionalised after suffering a breakdown) but the story is really about Kate. She has had a traumatic life and is emotionally damaged, so much so that she can form but not maintain normal relationships, particularly with men. Her own, unresolved problems lend her empathy with patients and make her a good trauma counselor but make her own life a disaster.
Those who enjoy Patricia Cornwall, James Patterson, and Mary Higgins Clark will like HIDDEN.
Author’s Inspiration: Like all books it was a random idea that grew and grew and would not go away until it was written down.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Angelina Jolie
This book is free 4/5-4/7.
Editor’s Note: Like a good dish, this novel’s got it all – a fast paced suspense filled mystery with a twist of romance and Hawaiian flavor!
I found Blood Orchids to be a captivating story with engaging characters in well described settings.
Book Description: Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit, but in this story, there is a killer out there who is preying on police officer Lei Texeira. She has a haunted pas that surfaces in the brutual death of two teenagers on Hilo. Will she be able to find this killer or will she become the next victim?
Those who enjoyed the J.D. Robb’s In Death series will enjoy BLOOD ORCHIDS.
Author’s Inspiration: The Lei Crime Series is based on author’s experience as a mental health therapist dealing with the challenges of life in paradise and unfulfilled dreams of solving crime.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Grace Park
From the Book: Drowning isn’t pretty, even in paradise. The girl’s features were bloated by water and nibbled on by wildlife. She lay half embedded in silty mud, naked as a seal carcass. Long hair that might have been blonde wrapped around her like seaweed, one sparkly hair tie still in place on the side of her head.
Leilani Texeira grimaced at the sulphurous smell of the mud as she stepped into it, shiny regulation shoes disappearing, and squatted to inspect the body. After three years on the force in Hawaii she’d seen several drowned corpses, and had learned to stay detached as she looked for any signs of violence. Still, she was thankful for the small mercy of the girl’s closed eyes.
Her partner Pono’s voice was a bass drone interspersed with static as he called in the discovery on the radio. Lei stayed on her haunches, her eyes slowly surveying the entire overgrown area of the small county park. Invasive christmasberry bushes and clumps of tall pili grass competed along the unkempt banks. Midmorning sun leached reluctantly from under cloud cover as she spotted what looked like a bobbing coconut a few yards out. Lei glanced around—no palm trees ringed the pond.
She pushed her pant legs up and splashed forward into murky water warm as blood, clots of yellowish algae dotting the surface.

Deadly Lode is a wonderfully entertaining book with an intricate plot!
Book Description: Trace Brandon’s rediscovery of the historic Sullivan Gold Mine, comes with more than high-grade ore. Cyrus “The Virus” McSweeny, a notorious stock promoter, wants a piece of the mine. As does the Pantelli crime family, who are willing to kill to get what they want.
Brandon is forced to forge some rather unorthodox alliances to maintain control of the Sullivan Mine . . . and to stay alive.
Readers who enjoy Clive Cussler, James Lee Burke, or Wilbur Smith will like DEADLY LODE.
Author’s Inspiration: Book is based on my personal experiences as a geologist, and my tenure as CEO of several small-cap mining companies.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Matthew McConaughey
From the Book: Cyrus’s resume was colorful, to say the least. He wrote the book on pump-and-dump stock scams. And he’d been accused, more than once, of naked short selling, selling shares he didn’t own, via his offshore accounts. His favorite scam, however, remained over-staking newly staked mining claims.

Editor’s Note: Searching for a menacing thriller with an unexpected ending, then look no further than S’WANEE!
The pacing of S’wanee will keep you on your seat and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Book Description: A high school kid is recruited to the college of his dreams, tucked high in the Tennessee hills. He loves his new family of friends and professors…until they start to die off mysteriously.
Readers of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Cornell Woolrich, and Arthur Machen will enjoy S’WANEE.
Author’s Inspiration: The book is based on a real place: Sewanee, the University of the South. I remember it as a child, and I went back to visit a couple years ago. It’s a beautiful, magical place, so naturally I had to turn it into a nightmare.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: A younger Shia LaBeouf
From the Book: Dinner was subdued, and there was more food to go around and more places to sit and spread out. The rumblings of anger and rebellion that flared over the past few days had quieted, and Rebel’s Rest simmered down to calm acceptance. Long gone were Caleb’s booming voice and Skit’s throaty cackle. Absent were Vail’s sweet demeanor and Bishop’s and Emerson’s testosterone-fueled one-upmanship. Post-dinner study time was oddly quiet without Sin’s soothing piano as Cody struggled through an essay on the main themes of Hamlet.
“Why are so many people dying?” Cody asked, and Banjo said, “I don’t know,” and Elliott said, “I don’t know.” They’d all wondered the same thing.
This book is free 4/3-4/4.
Editor’s Note: Here’s another San Dyke novel that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
If you like intricately woven plots, in-your-face action and a straightforward, no holds barred hero, you’ll need to get this book!
Why is a British government minister trying to prevent the truth emerging about these two events from WWII? PI Sam Dyke finds himself in mortal danger as he attempts to find out.
Those who enjoy Robert Crais, John Sandford, Harlan Coben will enjoy THE HARD SWIM.
Author’s Inspiration: I learned about the two historical events that form the background to the book a long time ago and thought it would be interesting to forge a link between them. Using my series character Sam Dyke I’ve been able to weave together the two events into an exciting story.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Clive Owen
From the Book: Within moments he heard steps running up towards him in pursuit, heavy footfalls on the metal staircase. As the man reached the top, Sam stood and turned back, rounding the corner, thrusting his weight forward.
His chest collided with the chasing man, and in an instant he had extended his arms and spun the other round, hooked a foot around his ankles, and pushed.
A look of surprise and immediate fear traversed the man’s features, but then he was turned and gone, crashing in a headlong fall past two startled travellers who skittled rapidly out of his way.
