The Portal’s Choice: Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: THE PORTAL’S CHOICE is about finding the inner courage to be your best.

The plot is riveting, the characters are intriguing, and the writing is phenomenal.

Book Description:  Tallis Challinor has a problem. She has been made a temporary gatekeeper of the portal between the spirit realm and the human realm that happens to be located in her basement. Along with her title comes the task of returning a bunch of escaped spirits with bad attitudes back through the portal. Otherwise, the spiteful ghouls will continue to torment the residents of small town Landry, New Hampshire where Tallis, the new kid in town, would simply like to fit in, not be the resident ghost buster. With the help of some new friends, and her cute neighbor, Aiden, Tallis has to figure out how to get her job done and her life back to normal.

Readers who enjoy The Mortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare will enjoy THE PORTAL’S CHOICE

Author’s Inspiration: I was in the middle of writing another book when I drove by an old graveyard late one June afternoon. The cemetery was next to an old house and something about the way the light hit them made me wonder about a connection between the basement of the house and the graveyard next door. I figured out that connection, a portal between the human and spirit worlds, and realized that my protagonist was a teenage girl.

THE PORTAL’S CHOICE will be free 7/18-7/19

KD Pryor

Here are some things about me that influence my books.

1. I love chocolate. It ought to be a food group. Truly.

2. I love to travel. I want to see the entire world. But crazy stuff like dental appointments, kids’ school schedules and my husband’s job get in the way. (I keep working on it.)

3. My family lived in Bangalore, India for four years. It was amazing. I love India.

4. I am a former lawyer and a current yoga teacher.

5. It is important to have courage and to live life courageously; doing what is right, not necessarily easy. It takes courage to write books and it isn’t always easy, but I love doing it.

6. I definitely believe in ghosts.

The Takers: Book One of the Oz Chronicles – Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: The Oz Chronicles are a mix of Stephen King’s The Stand and L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.

The book might be considered a young adult novel in the horror genre, but truly the story is so original and well written, anyone would enjoy it!

Book Description:  When 13-year-old Osmond “Oz” Griffith wakes from an illness on the floor of his closet, he discovers the world overrun by man-eating monsters, the Takers, and it’s largely his fault. In an effort to make things right, he gathers a band of survivors (a baby, an aged mechanic and a talking gorilla, among others), and sets off down his version of the yellow brick road, leading to the Atlanta Zoo. Along the way, he learns that his destiny was written by Stevie, a boy from his past. Afflicted with Down Syndrome, Stevie created new worlds, replete with battles between good and evil, in the comic books that served as his sole refuge from the teasing of Oz and his friends. Stevie’s untimely suicide leaves only the comic books as clues to vanquishing the Takers.

Author’s Inspiration: The author has a borderline obsession with what it would take to survive in extreme circumstances. He can think of nothing more extreme than battling monsters of one’s own making in a world that is dying.

Book Description:   Hope is tired of her good-girl
reputation and decides to be more daring by sneaking out of her house with her
best friend, Karen. The girls want to see if the school secretary is as strange
as she seems – rumor has it that she’s building a church in her basement! What
the girls don’t know is that the secretary is stalking THEM, and the radio
evangelist she has been following has some secrets of his own…

Author’s Inspiration:  I wanted to explore the negative ramifications
of blind faith, along with the mixed feelings teens face as they mature. By
writing the book with a hint of mystery, adventure, and romance, my “hope” is to engage the reader on Hope’s journey through freshman
year of high school. As a teen, I loved realistic fiction and mystery, so I
wanted to write the kind of book I enjoy reading!

Wade Boss: Hybrid Hunter : Free For Kindle

Editor’s Note: WADE ROSS HYBRID HUNTER is the ultimate summer read filled with action, adventure,
monsters, and clean romance!

The author does a great job of describing the hybrids in such vivid detail that you can see them in your mind’s eye.

Book Description:  Texas- born animal trainer Wade Boss answers a call
to apprehend an escaped tiger, but instead winds up face to face with a
half-tiger hybrid terror! And the madness has only just begun…
Wade’s conscience quickly embroils him in a race to protect unsuspecting
civilians from a growing threat: genetic hybrids being engineered – and then
unleashed – by mad scientists-unknown!
But no sooner does Wade discover his affinity for hybrid hunting than he
realizes it has turned his loved ones into targets.

Author’s Inspiration:  During my days as a middle and high school English
teacher, parents would express to me how difficult it was to find decent new
material for their teenagers to read. And by “decent” they didn’t just mean
well-written, they meant optimistic, uplifting, wholesome – not obsessed with
darkness. Wade Boss: Hybrid Hunter is my answer to that lament. It’s
principally an action-adventure story, but with a lot of subtlety and humor
layered in – and even some (clean) romance!

Marcus
MacGregor

I’m a former middle and high school English
teacher, turned novelist – but first and foremost I am a fan of great
storytelling. I’m an action-adventure kind of guy, but I firmly believe that
without great character development, all the chase scenes and explosions in the
world fall flat. I’m crazy about monsters and the Old West, and Wade Boss gave
me a chance to spend a lot of time with both!
