As a children’s book author I really enjoyed creating this Kindle book and I hope it will be the first of many. Journey With Me ABC’s grew out of a desire to create the types of childrens books that can be enjoyed by both parents and children together.

I want to encourage parents to read to their children. Studies have shown that reading to children is an invaluable activity that will help children to build literacy skills. Not to mention helping children to develop a love of reading.

The Serpent in the Glass (The Tale of Thomas Farrell) : Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: THE SERPENT IN THE GLASS is a brilliant children’s fantasy story that will keep you and your middle-schooler up into the wee hours of the night!

The Serpent in the Glass has finely drawn characters, wonderful atmosphere and a compelling plot!

Book Description: A book for children aged 9 to 99. Set in modern Britain and the ancient mythic otherworld of Avallach, The Serpent in the Glass tells the tale of eleven-year-old Thomas Farrell and the strange glass orb he inherits from his unknown father…

Those who enjoyed the Harry Potter series will enjoy THE SERPENT IN THE GLASS.

Author’s Inspiration:  This story was initially inspired by the legends surrounding Avebury in Wiltshire, England. Scottish folklore and Irish myth also provide an inspiration, and have consequently been woven into the tapestry of the tale. But, beyond that, it is a story of a young boy simply trying to understand who he is, and where he’s come from – and how he can summon the courage to pursue and face those truths.

From the Book: Thomas’s senses seemed to sharpen. He could smell lush grass and see the silver trees stretching out around them. The moon rode high and bright, and the sky held a multitude of shimmering stars. Enormous dark mountains loomed up on either side of them. They must have been standing in a deep and very narrow valley. The stillness of the night was deafening.

D.M. Andrews

D.M. Andrews was born in England and has been lucky enough to live there for all his life. His stories always have a connection to Britain, and he very much enjoys original fantasy as a medium for conveying his tales to his readers. D.M. Andrews writes for the young-minded and likes to think his books appeal to all confident readers, be they nine or ninety-nine. He became an author because he’s not much good at anything else. He intends to stay an author, too.

Favorite Place to Write: I like to write in a quiet place without distraction. Finding such a place is another thing.

Favorite Music: I’m a big fan of soundtracks and of Enya. Recently I’ve got into such cool and current Internet sensations as Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling

Favorite TV show: I don’t watch much TV, but I do like period dramas – Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge, that sort of thing.

Young Gifted and Bad (Sweets Maybrey) : Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: YOUNG GIFTED AND BAD is the second of the Sweets Maybrey series that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Its a crime novel from a unique perspective!

Book Description: This is the second novel in the Sweets Maybrey series. Sweets has assumed control of black crime in west Philadelphia but uneasy is the head that wears the crown. Murder surrounds him, the dagger points sharp, the hands holding the daggers both known and unknown. He expands his territory, making war with the Mafia. This adds to the enemies in his camp and in his bed. How will Sweets sort through friend from foe and come out victorious?

Those who like Walter Mosley will like YOUNG GIFTED AND BAD.

Author’s Inspiration:  In 2003 my father and brother both passed away. Both were criminals – my father was a numbers runner and my brother a thief and hustler. I knew neither person well – they kept their criminal lives fairly hidden. Still, I learned more than I wanted about how they each conducted their business. I wondered, especially as my father wasted away in a hospice, what I would have done if he had presented me with the option to follow in his footsteps. What choice would I have made? In the Sweets Maybrey series, the main character has to make this decision and, once committed, live with the consequences.

Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Chris Brown

From the Book: I climbed the steps in my roach killers, which by some miracle still gleamed in the pale light leaking in from the grocery below. I had my left hand on my neck and my right hand, my best for shooting, among other things, on my nickel-plated Detonic Combat Master .45 automatic. The gun, too, gleamed, and although I cleaned it regularly, as the old heads encouraged me to do, I didn’t shine it as vigorously or as often as I shined my shoes. I walked softly up the steps, in case someone was waiting for me. No one was waiting. The whole world, it seemed, had taken cover, expecting the worse. Waiting, breathing slowed just a bit, just like me. I will kill the next person who walks into my office. I don’t know who it will be, although I have some ideas.

Barry C Davis

I have been writing for 10 years, primarily novels but also short stories and screenplays. I write because I have strong opinions and novels are the best way to convey those opinions while offering captivating entertainment. I was born in the ghetto and write from that vantage point. Although I have expanded into horror and fantasy novels my bread and butter is urban fiction. The Sweets Maybrey series is based upon assimilated knowledge of Philadelphia’s criminal machinations. My goal is to bring the reader inside the sex and crime while revealing the humanity behind the brutality.

What is your favorite food, place to write, music to listen to, TV show?: My favorite food is, of course, a real deal Philly cheesesteak. I love to write at 3AM in my spare bedroom with a cup a coffee at my elbow. My favorite shows are Justified and Elementary.

Next History: The Girl Who Hacked Tomorrow : Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: History running forwards and backwards? NEXT HISTORY explores this idea and it’s simply riveting!

Next History took me on a wild ride to the future, any future I could imagine!

Book Description: Tharcia is in search of her mother for an epic showdown – only she is dead. She uses magic and technology to seek her mother out only to ensare an enchanting oracle, that will reprogram the world as she knows it. What will Tharcia glean from the oracle? Will she change the fate of humanity or her own?

Those who enjoyed Amped, Wired, Ringworld and Angels and Demons will enjoy NEXT HISTORY.

Author’s Inspiration:  What got me started was a review of creation mythologies from a dozen world cultures. I wondered, what if we’ve had these all wrong, what if there were revealed an absolutely *true* version? I saw flaws in the tale of mythical Lilith, and in developing her story, found certain knowledge that could reveal our next history.

Actor Who Would Play the Main Character:  Jennifer Lawrence

From the Book: At first it seems like another Homeland Security mass-fear distraction to deflect attention from the latest wretched unemployment numbers, a short news crawl on the major TV networks: Pentagon in Total Security Lockdown. White-hot on the former 5-color DHS threat scale, meaning we are beyond at-risk and currently under attack, so tune to local AM station, place head between knees and fondly kiss your ass bye-bye. This is replaced minutes later by another crawl, a baffle-worded retraction. Threat Levels Normal. Most viewers chuckle sardonically and let it go. The tweet-blizzard fades, traffic choked off by big-iron military counter-intelligence denials, and that seems to be that.

Lee Baldwin

I am a novelist in Santa Cruz, California. I have waited 25 years to be able to say that, through a half-dozen careers including my own creative copywriting agency in Vancouver (Canada) and Hawaii, operating an advertising business in Honolulu, and 17 years as a human interface designer in Silicon Valley. It was worth it.

My characters often have a quirky edge, because I see human foibles as the launch points of dramatic conflict. That and my musical ear help me shape dialog and narrative into rhythms of dramatic reveal, turning points, and cadences.

Escape fiction generally satisfies the reader’s hunger for vicarious experiences. You know, the cool stuff. Such as glamorous adventure, epic situations, sex and romance, and overcoming great obstacles. I get fiendish pleasure whenever I can spice these situations with wry humor.

I think about plot and character during long walks on the Rio Del Mar beach. I write at home. I fly gliders and drive race cars, which gives my adventure scenes realism. I listen to (and play) jazz keyboards. I goof off.

Little Terrors : Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: LITTLE TERRORS is a collection of chillingly scary short stories sure to make you shiver in fear!

Little Terrors is a thrilling and fascinating amalgamation of literary genres and intuitive storytelling!

Book Description: A unique, thrilling, and haunting compilation of horror and ghost stories. From the psychotic and sociopathic monologues of Polystyrene Man and Last Words; the eerie tales of The Sleepover and When the Reaper Smiles; to the bitter sentiments of Wipeout and the redemptive misery of Ante Up, Little Terrors offers an eclectic mix of the horror genre.

Those who love Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Clive Baker will love LITTLE TERRORS.

Author’s Inspiration:  I’ve always loved to read and write short stories. The first thing I ever had published was a short story and since then (ten years ago) I always find time away from novel writing to pen a few shorts. Writing novels can be a frustrating business, it’s a long and sometimes tedious process, but with short stories you can get the story idea fleshed out quickly and have an end product within a day or two.

From the Book: Extract from “Wipeout” a story about a bitter old woman and her problem neighbour:

As she sat and listened to the song she clenched her jaw and ground her hardened gums.

Frankie, her next door neighbour, was an utter contemptuous bastard. There was no denying it. If the past few nights, and indeed the last ten years, was anything to go by, then this repetitive hippy bullshit wouldn’t let up for another hour. By then she’d be wide awake; her tablets worn off, her day ruined.

She grabbed at the phone, dialled 999.

“The bastard’s at it again,” she told the operator straight away.

The operator sighed. She recognised the voice and the number showing on her screen. “Mrs Henderson, I’ve told you–”

“You’ve told me nothing,” she interrupted aggressively. “I’m sick of this. I’m seventy-fucking-five years old. I shouldn’t have to put up with this shit!”

“Listen, Martha, may I call you Martha?”

“Noyoumayfuckingnot,” she hissed in one breath.

“Mrs Henderson. We’ve sent the police out far too many times, we’ve told you before, this is an issue that you need to resolve with–”

“Fuck you!” Martha spat.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me.”

She slammed the phone down, muttering obscenities under her breath.

A Time To Love (A Mill Creek Crossing Romance) : Free Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: A TIME TO LOVE, part of the Mill Creek Crossing series, will make you wish that coffee break was just a little bit longer!

This is a delightful quick read that will satisfy those cravings for a little romance in your day!

Book Description: Two sisters, Eva and Gracie, learn to overcome their disdain for one another as life forces them to be together in Mill Creek Crossing. Will high-class Eva find love with the biker Brice that she meets along the way?

Those who enjoyed Always on My Mind, The Falls, and Rainshadow Road will enjoy A TIME TO LOVE.

Author’s Inspiration:  Brice reminds me of a guy I actually nursed. He was a biker who had smashed up both the bike and himself. His story, plus the stories his visitors shared with me, seeing how they had all come through different life difficulties, was part of the inspiration behind A Time to Love.

Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Ben Affleck would make a great Brice, and Catherine Zeta Jones would make an awesome and spunky Eva

From the Book: After putting on his helmet, he sat on his bike and started it. The noise was deafening to her, but Eva like the ruggedness of seeing him sitting on the big Harley. Something surged within her she didn’t even know was there. Maybe she had a fetish for country boys or rednecks?

“Come on. Sit back here,” he yelled over the engine. She slowly slid one leg over the seat. “Put your arms around my waist and hold on,” he said loudly. With no other choice, she slid her arms around his strong waist and moved closer to him. With her hips holding tight around him, she felt overcome with the desire to yank his helmet off and kiss him right there. Maybe her libido was out of whack since she hadn’t been with any man in over a year, she thought to herself. Maybe it was the scent of his masculine cologne that smelled like lust in a bottle…

Angelina Rose

Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina constantly had her head buried in books.

In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident; the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she’d ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fictions stories for young adults, Angelina has now started a new “Mill Creek Crossing Romance” series of contemporary romances intended for adults.

Favorite Food: I love unusual vegetarian meals which I often take into my study to eat.
Favorite Place to Write: The study is also where I write… my home overlooks a reserve so it’s very soothing and peaceful. My dogs sit at my feet, barking occasionally at my cats who think they should sometimes grab my attention by spreading themselves over my keyboard as I write. It works!

Favorite Music: I like different styles of music… rock, rock ‘n roll, and dance music. They are breathtaking and full of energy. Not suitable as background music when I write novels though… then I prefer to have the radio running in the background.

Favorite TV show: I I love the cleverness and humor behind “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Vicar of Dibley”. Missed the early episodes of Downton Abbey … but now I rarely miss out on watching Dan Stevens playing Matthew Crawly and Michelle Dockery who plays Lady Mary Crawley. I would love to live in one of those manors and wear those beautiful clothes… not to mention have a few servants. What a life!
“Bones” plays on my medical side… of course they are going to solve the crimes and find the killer. I just love the imagination and the fantastic technology that has been concocted.
