Editor’s Note: YA readers: Are you ready for an action packed vampire novel with Navy SEALS? ON THE EDGE OF HUMANITY is here! This is not your mother’s vampire novel.
On the Edge of Humanity is far from ‘yet another vampire novel’.
Book Description: Sixteen-year-old Jo Mason learns she carries a dormant vampire gene on the same day an evil cartel kidnaps her twin brother. A secret vampire SEAL team can save him—if she becomes a bloodsucker, too.
Those who enjoy Amanda Hocking and Rachel Caine, will like ON THE EDGE OF HUMANITY.
Author’s Inspiration: First, I love character driven books and I wanted to impart my imagination to a character that starts out struggling in life. Two, I love the fantasy world paralleled with the real world and how the two intertwine. Finally, I take great pride in my military service and I wanted to bring that aspect into the story.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Camilla Belle
From the Book: I was trapped in a world where I didn’t belong. A world where my dad had discarded me as if I were a piece of trash. A world where danger constantly surfaced, even in places I called home. I couldn’t say when I came to the decision not to be a victim anymore.
This book is free 3/15-3/16.
Editor’s Note: This is a fast paced supernatural tale that will keep you up into the dead of the night!
Looking for a fresh and exciting new take on vampires, this is it!
Author’s Inspiration: After finishing my YA novel ‘Fear Club: Tokyo Masquerade’, I thought, ‘of course dust is not the end, so what’s next if not the afterlife?’ And that’s when I though of Dust To Dust, where Tamsin, the heroine, can jump from body to body and live again, but the body must have no human soul.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Emma Stone would make an awesome and spunky Tamsin.
From the Book: They were dragged under the ice. The water so cold it burned like fire. Water filled her lungs and she finally lost her hold on him – as she knew she would. This had been a delaying tactic only, keeping him busy saving himself instead of his Faerie bargain. Breaking away from her, Knightly kicked desperately up towards the surface. Angelique’s weakness was water. The liquid swiftly leached all power from her, leaving her helpless.
Death, as Tamsin had observed, has many subtle and varied layers. But dying is never easy. No matter how many times you’ve done it. Tamsin fought blindly at the end, the panic overwhelming her. Desperate to die and desperate to breathe in equal measures. She called out Drake’s name in her mind.
As she sank into the freezing black depths of Lake Michigan, she almost thought she heard him call back.
This book is free 3/14-3/18.
Editor’s Note: We love the Deadwood Series by Ann Charles. This book is a mix of mystery, paranormal, and romance, so there’s something for everyone.
Fun and suspense in a delightful mix!
Violet Parker and Deadwood. In this third installment of the Deadwood Mystery series, Violet is determined to discover what’s in the crates the crooks are sneaking out of the local mortuary in the dark of night. The question is, will she end up in one of them herself … in pieces?
Readers who love Janet Evanovich – Stephanie Plum Series, H.P. Mallory, Gemma Halliday, Terri Reid, and Stephanie Bond will like DEAD CASE IN DEADWOOD.
Author’s Inspiration: I had a blast writing this third book in the series, especially after experiencing one of Deadwood’s haunted hotels first-hand while participating in the South Dakota Festival of Books. Did I see a ghost while staying in the hotel? No, but the bathroom door kept swinging open in the night. That alone was enough to make me sleep with the covers over my head. Unlike Violet in this series, I’m a big chicken when it comes to ghost-filled rumors.
This book is free 3/13 – 3/15.
Editor’s Note: The premise of this one is stirring up some of our hidden phobias… Get this one if you’re ready for a heart-pounding thriller with a hint of the supernatural!
This book was addictively gripping- I was holding my breath and waiting to come up for air.
Book Description: Someone wants Rebecca Kingston dead, and Marcus Taylor, recovering addict and 911 operator, is her only chance of survival. Trapped in a submerged car, unable to help her children in the back seat, Rebecca’s only lifeline is a cell phone with a quickly depleting battery and a stranger’s calm voice on the other end telling her everything will be all right.
Author’s Inspiration: I’ve always had a deep fear of my car going off the road and into a body of water–of drowning while trapped in a submerged vehicle, with no way out. As with most of my novels, I am compelled to explore fears, whether mine–or yours.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Gerard Butler.
From the Book: You never grow accustomed to the stench of death. Marcus Taylor knew that smell intimately. He had inhaled burnt flesh, decayed flesh…diseased flesh. It lingered on him long after he was separated from the body.
The image of his wife and son’s gray faces and blue lips assaulted him.
Mercifully, there were no bodies tonight. The only scent he recognized now was wet prairie and the dank residue left over from a rainstorm and the river..
This book is free 3/11-3/15.

A creepily good book that never loses momentum!
Author’s Inspiration: I was inspired a fear that I have–the fear of being in a submerged vehicle.
Actor Who Would Play the Main Character: Gerard Butler.
From the Book: For the past six years, whenever Marcus slept, his dead wife and son came to visit, taunting him with their spectral images, teasing him with familiar phrases, twisting his mind and gut into a guilt-infested cesspool. The only way to escape their accusing glares and spiteful smiles was to wake up. Or not go to sleep. Sleep was the enemy. He did his best to avoid it..
This book is free 3/7-3/10.
Editor’s Note: Well, this is a vampire story- but it’s not like any others out there!
It pulled me in so quick that before I knew it, I’d read the whole book.
Author’s Inspiration: I grew up in Indiana, but I didn’t truly appreciate that state until I had to move away from it. I’m a big fan of vampire stories, especially those that include romance.
From the Book: “Closer now, I could see the details that I’d missed before. His body seemed to be a solid mass of muscle, garbed in black jeans and a black V-neck t-shirt that emphasized the size of his biceps. The human-looking frame and face might have brought my disbelief back in a tidal wave if it weren’t for the eyes. The contrast between his dark slanting eyebrows and the ice blue gaze that slid over me appreciatively was inhuman. The sardonic half smirk of his hard-looking mouth revealed that the nature of the creature before me was far from friendly.”
This book is free 2/25 – 7/1.
