Be The Death of Me: Free eBook for Kindle

Editor’s Note: BE THE DEATH OF ME is a romantic tringle involving the dead protecting the living.

Book Description:  Be The Death Of Me is a tale of life after death. A mystery, comedy and love story told from three very different perspectives. The plot will flash back, flash forward and ultimately focus on three people with interweaving, complex histories. In the end, Billie must come to terms with who she is, who she was, and discover both the good and the horrifying inside. Her afterlife becomes a whirlwind of adventure and heartbreak; a humorous, irreverent, heartwarming account of just how far a person will go to conquer their demons.

Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to write a female heroine that wasn’t a cliche damsel in distress. I wanted her to have bite as well as bark.  Writing a novel where members of the opposite sex are partners and friends first was important to me as well. The wit, the teasing, the fun, it’s part of my life and was surprisingly easy to translate to the page.

I enjoy making people laugh. That being said, I have an affinity for bittersweet endings and lost causes. I feel readers would enjoy my book because there are so many aspects to fall in love with. A flurry of emotions is the greatest compliment an artist can receive. I’m not afraid to embrace tragedy as well as creating laughter from some of the darkest scenarios. I became an author to share my view of the world, and that is the universe isn’t merely black and white.

Helga: Out of Hedgelands (Wood Cow Chronicles): Free for Kindle

Editor’s Note: Fantasy lovers will enjoy this quirky and funny, but serious adventure

This book has the most creative characters, environments, even food descriptions, of any story for children that I have read.

Book Description: The Forever End is the edge of the world. Final. Nothing beyond. But when Helga goes beyond the End, while fleeing Wrackshee slavers, her flight unleashes a chain of events that turns age-old worlds on their head. Not until the Forever Hedge is passed can the ancient divisions be healed. Helga & her eccentric comrades overcome tyrants and slavers, not by battling to the last beast standing, but by being the first beast to think differently.

Author’s Inspiration:  I write fantasy because imagination is one of the important tools we have in breaking through the barriers or chains that limit our possibilities. Fantasy, especially children’s fantasy, including the idea that cows should, indeed, be allowed to talk—and think—perhaps encourages us to wonder about many other creatures, people, and dimensions of thought that “common sense” keeps us from hearing and seeing.

As the earliest fruit of this research, Helga: Out of Hedgelands was published as the first volume in the reconstruction of the ancient history of the Wood Cows. In coming years, the Wood Cow Chronicles will expand as more of my research brings the entire astonishing story of the Wood Cows to modern readers. My writing space is actually in a small closet, just big enough for my portable laptop computer table and a few shelves for my writing materials and keepsakes. What it great about this space is that my chair is positioned so I have a magnificent view of the Rocky Mountains while I write. It works well for me and I don’t have to clutter up the rest of the house with my papers!

Awaken: Free Kindle Book

Editor’s note: this novel is the first in a fantasy series fueled by the eternal desire for truth. Fantasy readers – don’t miss this one!

The books in this Young Adult series are fast, fun reads that even “old folks” can enjoy if they like fantasy adventure.

Mind reading thirteen-year-old twins discover they have until the rising of the Blue Moon to save the life of a young man whose caravan is forced to flee through a magical portal to another world, without him.

If you like Harry Potter, The Neverending Story, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Spooks Apprentice, or Gregor the Overlander, you’ll love this one.

Author’s Inspiration: This series is filled with magic and adventure, but is also loosely based on my own youth experiences of living a gypsy-esque lifestyle, except rather than moving from town to town, my characters use magical portals to travel between worlds.

Stephen Henning

In my head, I’ve always been a writer. That’s all I ever wanted to be. When I hit upon the idea for the Class Heroes series, I instantly knew exactly what I wanted my main characters to be like, I understood them, and I knew how the series would develop. I used to be a journalist and my wife loves reading out salacious stories from the newspapers to me, so I’m never going to run out of inspiration or ideas. We have two cats, Sookie and Rogue. Bearing in mind I like superheroes, do you know who or what connects the name Sookie and Rogue?

The Gatekeeper’s Sons: Free eBook

Editor’s Note: In THE GATEKEEPER’S SONS a normal girl and a Greek god fall in love.

Eva Pohler held true to the mythology of the Greek gods and goddesses through the story, which was an added bonus!

Book Description:  Thanatos, the god of death, is repulsed by both gods and humans in spite of his beauty because of his job. When an ordinary girl flirts with him while she’s in a coma, he makes a deal with Hades, his father, to go to the Upperworld as a mortal to meet her. Then all hell breaks loose.

From the Book:  Whether McAdams injured himself in one of her traps or in some other way, he was nevertheless injured, and this added to Therese’s overall optimism as she scrambled beneath the cliff edge with her arms full of rocks the size of softballs. The noise of the falls thundered as she neared them and the spray hit her bare skin and chilled her, a relief after the sweat she had worked up from building her traps in Demeter’s woods.

“How long till nightfall?” she asked Than in her mind. It seemed like hours had passed, and yet the sun still bore down on them high in the sky. “Wait a minute. We never left Olympus, did we? The sun always shines, right?”

If Than answered her, she could no longer hear him this close to the crashing falls. She hadn’t thought of that! How would she make it without him?
